To Do List: Kitchen Chalkboard

I am loving the look of framed chalkboards, especially in the kitchen where a menu or quote can be displayed. While Pottery Barn has a nice one, I think I'm up for a crafty DIY project.

Found: Garden Stool

I'm thrilled to report that I've found a garden stool. It is currently sitting under my artificial tree (which I cannot kill) and on top of cat-destroyed grey carpet, which I'd like to kill (the carpet that is, not the cats). It is waiting patiently for a more suitable and deserving place to be shown off.

Mine is identical to this one from Wisteria for $129.00. Except mine was $39.00. Gotta love Home Sense.

Take me to… Siesta Key Sarasota

Siesta Key, Sarasota, FL

The May issue of Coastal Living magazine features an article on the best beach vacations. After recently vacationing in Florida, I definitely agree with the nomination of Siesta Key, Sarasota as one of the beaches with the most beautiful sand. I want to go back. Right now.

When I took these photos, it was slightly overcast and missing the crisp blue sky, but this beach was simply beautiful:

Origins Skincare

Over the last few years, I have become a fan of Origins. Many of their ingredients are organic and their products are created without parabens or other harmful ingredients. What I admire about Origins is that they stand by their commitment to preserve the earth, environment and animals.

I currently use and LOVE: A Perfect World moisturizer. They now have one with SPF too.

Clean Energy cleansing oil

GinZing eye cream (really, really good when super tired)

and their MONSTROUS ginger bath bar (if you drop this sucker in the tub at 7am you will wake the neighbours)

My Love For Patio Umbrellas

For me, patio umbrellas symbolize summer relaxation. I love the warmth of sunshine and I rarely seek shelter in the shade, but a glass of sweet tea under a large umbrella after a day spent in the sun is heavenly. Relaxation at its finest.

I'm pretty sure Pottery Barn has created heaven. I am head-over-heels in love with the blue shutters.

Colour Crush: Turquoise

For a beach-loving girl like myself, I'm drawn to the colour turquoise.  Stimulating, soothing, sophisticated and relaxed. It has been recently featured as the "it" colour in Style At Home and Elle Decor

This relaxed, beach house bedroom is perfect for a lazy afternoon nap.

LOVE the tropical feel of the dark head board.

Retro style goodness.

Large, uncluttered office space. So jealous.

I could spend my life on this porch.

The teal walls. I'm swooning.

Casa Collection: The Perfect Candle

I love candles. You are pretty much guaranteed to find one flickering in my home on most evenings. They instantly put me into calm-and-cozy mode. I discovered Casa Collection soy candles by Pure Living and have been addicted to this company ever since. They smell heavenly. And they come in the prettiest packaging so they make wonderful gifts. I am in love with Mediterranean Mist. The aroma puts me right on the coast. Fresh Olive and Basil is also a favourite.

These are 100% environmentally friendly and are supposed to purify the air as they burn. My goal is to be as eco-friendly in my home as possible by avoiding chemicals, creating minimal garbage and supporting companies that help nature thrive.

Wish List: Old Fashioned Pendant Lighting

I love the nostalgic look, blending old and new, that can be created in the kitchen with pendant lighting. This kitchen which was featured in one of Martha Stewart's home tour photo galleries. I'm in love with it. And I truly believe that lighting makes a room.

I want to wake up and make breakfast here. This kitchen is perfection.

Tasty Treasure - The Cheesecake Factory

I have a serious addiction to The Cheesecake Factory. In addition to over 30 varieties of cheesecake, they have quite an extensive menu. And while I tend to stick to a few favourites when I visit (Bistro Shrimp), the menu can satisfy any craving. It's a novel.

Unfortunately (or fortunately for my figure) this establishment doesn't exist anywhere close to my home. Yes, it's a chain restaurant. But I love it. Worth the drive once in awhile.

The infamous cheesecake counter. Favourites include Key Lime, White Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Nut, and Upsidedown Pineapple Cheesecake.

Specialty Desserts stand tall.

The Lemoncello Torte is phenomenal. Sinful, but phenomenal.

Sweet Corn Tamale Cakes. This dish was the trigger for my addiction and I must find a way to create this in my own kitchen.

The Beach House

I  love the beach. The sound of waves, the feel of sand between my toes, the warmth of the sun on my face, the smell of salt in the air, and the soothing colours of sky and water… it doesn’t get any better. I’m a Pisces - a natural born water lover.

I plot and plan vacations on the coast, I decorate my home with seashore-inspired accent pieces, and I daydream incessantly about life by the water. I'm an aspiring beach dweller. I fantasize about beach homes like this one.

And I envision a lifestyle of salt water, sunshine, and a little surf shop and boutique shopping here and there.

Here is where I want to capture photos that inspire me... of the coast, and of creativity, both in nature and made by hand.
